SmartSwitch - a cool new way to save energy

A couple students at Stanford have developed a light switch that gives you variable tactile feedback when you turn it on based on the amount of energy currently being consumed by your home, or by the total load on the grid at that time.

A couple students at Stanford have developed a light switch that gives you variable tactile feedback when you turn it on based on the amount of energy currently being consumed by your home, or by the total load on the grid at that time.

I think that we would all use less power if we were reminded about how much power we are using each time we go to use an appliance. It has been demonstrated that electricity use is greatly reduced simply by moving a meter from outside to inside your home.
